What reprensentations of men are offered/constructed in the media?

Fight clubThe men in fight club at first appear to be very complicit and marganilised. Edward nortons character works a job he hates to get money in order to fund his obsessesion with furnishing his condo and building the perfect wardrobe, this is known as the nesting instinct and is most typically associated with women. We then get introduced to men at a testicular cancer meeting, one man is crying and sharing with the group that his wife left him due to his inability to be a real man and have kids and we also meet Bob, a man who has had his testicles removed and has developed breasts due to the high levels of oestrogen his body has produced. All the characters we first meet seem to be very emasculated and feel like they have no real importance in society. We then get introduced to Tyler Durden, he is good looking, is muscular and toned, has clear ideas about where he wants to be in society and is very masculine. Tyler represents everything the men want to be and they aspire to Tyler listening to his ideas about how they can become men again and regain power.
